Teeth Whitening

Feb 28, 2024

Teeth whitening is a process to make teeth brighter. It is done to lighten the color of discolored or darkened teeth.

Dentists use two main methods:

  1. Chairside whitening - where you get treatment in the dental office
  2. Chairside teeth whitening treatment involves a dentist using a strong hydrogen peroxide gel and sometimes a light to whiten your teeth during a dental visit. Normally it will take about one hour for the whole treatment.

  3. Homekit whitening - where you do the treatment at home with custom trays provided by your dentist.
  4. Homekit (take-home) teeth whitening treatment requires custom trays made by your dentist, and you apply a teeth whitening gel in these trays at home for a specified time. Normally it takes about two weeks for the treatment.

The duration of teeth whitening results varies and is influenced by factors such as dietary and brushing habits. For instance, individuals who smoke or consume substantial amounts of coffee may experience a quicker return of discoloration.
